4.5 star book review —

This is a book review for an ARC copy of Limitless by Lynn Rush provided to me. As an ARC reviewer, these opinions are entirely my own and my thoughts belong to me.

𝐄𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐨𝐥𝐥𝗲𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫. This book was full of raw feelings, vulnerabilities that can both inspired and saddened the reader. The authenticity of the characters is warming and comforting, and overall a safe environment for romance readers.

𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬

Let’s start with the 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨. Angelina, the female lead, is the epitome of a character that gets knocked down and gets back up. This is a character that puts on a face of bravery and courage, a character that readers will really easily relate to.

Through all of Lina’s character quirks, she has moments of weakness that truly grip the reader in a gut-wrenching way.

Have you ever wanted to do something so badly that it becomes the object of all your desires? But its possibility of happening is weighed down by the utter incapability of physically achieving that thing?

Lina struggles with this throughout the book, so much that as a reader, you’ll be able to feel the anguish she feels.

So now, imagine that there’s one person that can make those incapabilities disappear. This is where we meet Hunter, the male lead.

Hunter has demons of his own, things he’s running from as well. The mystery of his past sinks a hook into the reader, leaving you wonder all the same questions that Lina does.

For Hunter, Lina is 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙖 𝙩𝙪𝙣𝙣𝙚𝙡 𝙤𝙛 𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙙𝙤𝙬.

𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲

Despite the darkness at his back, the warmth Lina radiates compels him to chase away his demons so he can love Lina the way she deserves.

This uplifting story is the journey two characters with trauma find each other on.

Their love was tangible, even in the beginning, and it’s rare for authors to be able to accomplish putting something fictional into words well enough for general readers to think about two characters and truly believe in their love.

“𝙎𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙤𝙪𝙨𝙡𝙮 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙘𝙠𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙛𝙤𝙜 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙗𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙨𝙢𝙞𝙡𝙚. 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙄 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙𝙣’𝙩 𝙙𝙤 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙚𝙚 𝙞𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙪𝙡𝙡 𝙚𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚.”

Let’s talk about Hunter’s character consistency. Lynn Rush did a phenomenal job of keeping Hunter consistent throughout Lina’s healing process. There’s few and far between male leads in romances with darker themes that remain true to themselves throughout the story. A gentleman Hunter was at the beginning, and a gentleman Hunter was at the end.

“𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙧𝙚 𝙢𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙜. 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙝*𝙩𝙩𝙮 𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙙𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩. 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙢𝙮 𝙛𝙚𝙖𝙧.”

Back and forth, Lina and Hunter were inspirational. Lina’s character growth is a comforting sight to anyone who relates, who is desperate to overcome something dark holding them back.

Limitless, by Lynn Rush, is the beautiful story of two souls who needed someone, but not just anyone. Limitless is the story of two people fighting to keep their troubles at bay, but through the trust of one another, achieve to free themselves from their despair.

Anyone seeking a lighthearted romance with troublingly dark themes of the past can appreciate Limitless. Anyone searching for love on their journey back to the light will fall in love with Hunter and Lina, and the warmth that follows as they heal.

I recommend this book to any lovers of male characters with broody attitudes and bodies full of tattoos. As well as those who appreciate a brave, kind, sunshine female lead with compassion in her heart.

Hades Hangmen Series readers will also enjoy this book, though it’s less dark and more family friendly.

Limitless by Lynn Rush has the potential to be among Lucy Score’s Things We Never Got Over, and Mia Sheridan’s Archer’s Voice.
